Today my friends blogged about war and politics, which is why I decided to post this picture. I come to you today as the antithesis of Serious Thought.
This is my nephew. He is...wonderful. Look at him. He's got his handsome blue and grey uniform on and he's wearing it in formal mode, meaning that his shirt is tucked into his pants. He's got that fetching hat, which he has wisely used to make his ears poke out. He's got his tongue stuck firmly in his cheek, probably cause he's trying to manage his chaw. He is obviously playing outfield, a coveted team position and a family favorite.
And he is, inexplicably, holding his arm out. What is that? What was going through his magnificent little child-mind at this moment that made him stand there with his ears poking out and his arm at full attention? Because I will tell you one thing, I guarantee you he had a reason. Was he thinking of making a left turn? Trying to flag down the 3rd baseman to let him know his fly was open? Was he showing his brother, who was (not) likely sitting in the stands, that a tarantula can jump this high?? One wonders.
I do love child-minds.
And, lest I leave you here today without something to think about, ponder this a while: his parents, my very own brother & sister-in-law, picked this picture from a slew of undoubtedly more appropriate ones to be his State Tournament portrait. And they did it because it made them laugh. I love that, too.

thank you MacBean! maybe he was even making a Right turn, who knows??
Uh, and did ya notice, but it kinda looks like the boy's got his pants on backwards. Then again, I don't know much about little person baseball. Or big person baseball, for that matter. But I love this photo.
psssst. he was doing an egyptian mystery baseball dance...involved in the dance were his right arm, neck, head, right and left shoulder, and most of his waist and hips (involved in baseball was the rest of him). and yep, he had a reason...beside the fact that he just plain rocks.
hmmm...you know, maybe those pants *were* on backward that day.
fluff bucket! captain america!
