The Spawn of Indecisa

Many years ago I traveled to Greece with a group of fascinating people, among them my parents. While there we visited the Oracle of Delphi, best known in Greek mythology for its powers of prediction. Long ago--and perhaps still--people traveled there to ask the spirit of Apollo about what crops they should plant, the appropriate rock size for stonings, and the letter of the alphabet that the name of their future spouse started with. Not so unlike late night psychic hotlines of current times.

So one night, in an ouzo-induced haze, our group decided to allow the oracle to delve deep into our inner psyches and reveal our true natures. From that point on, we would eschew our birth names and forevermore be recognized only by our new nomina. It was sort of like a baptism. Looking back, I realize two things: 1) we were really drunk; and 2) I don't remember much (refer to #1) except for my mother's new name. That one stuck with me. For her, the oracle picked Indecisa, an appropriate reference to her genetic inability to make any decision at all.

Well, this apple didn't fall far from that tree.

I am stuck in a spasm of indecision today, and I need your help. I must select a photo of an animal to be included in a fundraising calendar for a local animal welfare group. I tried to foist it off on Moi, but she was having none of it. So now I come to you. I will present you with three pictures. Please cast your vote for the one you think should go in the calendar. Because my cats are black and don't photograph well, I've selected two pictures of kittens that I've fostered and one of our own dear Frederick. See what you think:

This is Hope. She was a real darling who did some of her growing up alongside my own dear Fifi, who tried valiantly to ruin her sweet nature by pestering her endlessly. It didn't work.

This is Gunther. He was found in a gutter by an employee of a vet clinic. What a handsome and cuddly lad!

And here, of course, is Frederick. We all know and love him.

So you see my dilemma. They're all just too darn wonderful! Please vote on your favorite and then make your friends vote, too. Opa!

if we are unableto immortalize Max or Fiona, I would cast my vote for Gunther as well.

Hope. One is left to wonder what she's ready to pounce.
